Plantlets of the Century plant

The long flowering stem of the Century plant bending with the weight of the plantlets

Plantlets on the ground
The Century plant that has produced a 10 m flowering stem is slowly dropping dozens of plantlets everyday since a fortnight ago.  I am gathering the plantlets and nursing them temporarily on open ground and in small polybags with the intention to propagate and plant more of the species in the park.  It must have been more than 5 years since planted at Zone C before the plant came to flowering stage this year.  Normally after the plant flowers and bear the planlets, it will die naturally.  This is the mother plant (and only one planted here) that will become the ancestral source of more such plants in the park.
